ITV to air show four-part show about Essex football club

The four-part series titled “Up the Jammers” will take a look at “the passion, the pressure and everything behind the badge” at Maldon and Tiptree FC.

The club underwent a multi-million-pound takeover in February 2025, at the hands of new owner Barrie Drewitt‑Barlow.

With his partner Scott, he has since transformed the club through renovations and a refreshed look.

Who is Barrie Drewitt‑Barlow?

Mr Drewitt-Barlow is a businessman and property developer who runs the Drewitt‑Barlow Organisation.

He first became widely known in the late 1990s/early 2000s with ex‑husband Tony as “Britain’s first gay dads” after having twins through surrogacy, and has since appeared on various TV shows.

The Maldon & Tiptree takeover

In early February 2025 Barrie and Scott announced they had bought Maldon & Tiptree FC and the ground in a “multi‑million pound” deal, taking the Isthmian North club and site off the hands of previous owner Richard Cowling and his family.

At the same time, the club unveiled former West Ham, Manchester City and Ipswich midfielder Kevin Horlock – who had previously worked with Colchester United’s under‑21s – as manager, with Liam Bailey as his assistant.

The club has recently been promoted from the Isthmian North division and will be playing step three football from the start of next season.

When will the show air

The show will be released Wednesday, May 13 with the first four episodes live on ITVX from 7am.
