The 8 Essex areas still above the national average infection rate

More than half of Essex’s local authorities have a higher Covid-19 infection rate than the average figure for England, according to the latest data.

As thousands of parents prepare for another two months of home-schooling, it doesn’t look as if the third national lockdown will be lifted any time soon.

Over the last 10 months the nation has adapted to a new Covid-safe way of life, from wearing face coverings in all indoor public spaces to shopping alone and keeping two metres from other people.

But despite strict measures enforced by the Government, Covid infection rates are still high in some areas.
