A cyclist has died after being hit by a car in Colchester.
Police were called to reports of a white Mercedes that had collided with a cyclist on Northern Approach (also known as Turner Road) near the junction of Bruff Close, on Friday evening (October 15) at around 7pm.
The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly died a short while later.
Essex Police has confirmed a man has since been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
He has since been released under investigation.
Officers are asking anyone who saw the vehicle or pedal cycle prior to the collision or if they have dashcam footage, to contact them.
