International artists bring world-class music and storytelling to Marks Tey

Marks Tey, Essex – Audiences in Marks Tey are in for a rare cultural treat this weekend, as two internationally acclaimed performers bring their new album launch tour to St Andrew’s Church.

On Saturday 13 September (7pm), harpist and storyteller Joy Smith will join forces with Spanish violinist and vielle player Jorge Jimenez to present Curiosa: Tales from Near & Far. Both artists have performed on leading stages across Europe and beyond, and together they weave enchanting live music with playful and evocative storytelling — a show that has been described as a “cabinet of curiosities” brought to life on stage.

Hosted by the delightfully whimsical Queen of Hearts, the concert promises cheeky tales, toe-tapping tunes, and a touch of magic, offering audiences a chance to leave the everyday at the door.

The duo’s performances have already won wide acclaim: The Guardian called their work a “wonderful and lush performance”, while BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour praised Joy Smith’s “magical and virtuosic harps.”
