Essex weather: The Bank Holiday weather forecast for Chelmsford, Southend, Braintree, Colchester, Basildon and more

Essex is forecast to sadly lose the sun today (April 18) as clouds descend on the county and temperatures begin to drop. The last week’s warm weather continued into the beginning of the Easter bank holiday weekend, but today, we’re going to see a distinctive cool-off for most parts of the county.

From Monday (April 18), the county can expect to see more cloud cover and less sun, with temperatures taking a slight dip from their averages of 16C and 17C in the last couple of days. Today is the last day of temperatures as high as 16C before things cool down for the rest of the week to levels such as 14C and 13C.

The UK has been as hot as some European countries in the past couple of days, including Greece and Ibiza. The Met Office weather forecast for the East of England says for Sunday: “Sunny spells for most, but probably cloudier for parts of East Anglia and the Southeast. Some showers in the north and west, mainly Scotland and Northern Ireland. Cooler than Sunday.”
