Each Essex area ranked from most to least coronavirus infected

Essex’s areas are becoming increasingly Covid free, which is in line with national statistics that show the UK’s infection rate, on the whole, is falling.

But that doesn’t mean we should stop following lockdown rules, and revert back to our previous way of life, as this could result in another spike that could see us plunged into further lockdown measures.

The latest figures show the infection rates for each local authority area in Essex. The infection rate is calculated as the number of cases per 100,000 people to make the statistics comparable.

From left to right, the numbers represent: the name of the local authority, and then the rate of new cases in the seven days to March 8.

The number in brackets is the new cases recorded in the seven days to March 8, followed by the rate of new cases in the seven days to March 1.

And the second number in brackets is the new cases recorded in the seven days to March 1.
