Colchester Zoo has announced the return of its very popular Starlight Safari nights.
This event allows visitors to see the zoo after dark when it is usually closed.
Starlight Safari Nights have proven to be very popular in past years, however, none were held last year.
In 2021, there will only be one late night opening, on Saturday, September 25.
On that day, the zoo will open until 9.30pm, giving you the chance to see the zoo in a completely new light.
Some areas of the zoo, including the Chimpanzee Lookout, will be closed from 6pm, but there will still be a lot to see.
You can make a full night of it, and grab a bite to eat at Penguini’s or some of the other outlets.

Announcing the event, Colchester Zoo wrote: “As the temperature drops and the senses sharpen you will have the chance to see some of our animals in a whole new light, as some bed down for the evening whilst for others the night is just beginning!”
The zoo recommends that you bring a torch along with you for the late night openings, to help to find your way around the zoo.
Information on tickets hasn’t yet been released, however, the zoo says it will be coming soon.
